Visual Art Journal, January 2025

I felt honored to be interviewed by the Visual Art Journal this past January — an online platform based in the Netherlands dedicated to promoting emerging artists. I submitted a handful of pieces to their open artist call back in November and was so excited when I learned I’d been chosen to be part of their next publication! Based on the pieces I sent in, the Magazine generated several questions designed specifically to dissect my artistic background and process. Not only did it help me start getting my paintings out there, but it also provided me with a new opportunity to reflect on my work using the written word. My interview is posted on their website and included in the 17th Edition of their Art Magazine alongside many other talented artists!

World of Crete, Upcoming Sept. 2025

Following the publication of Visual Art Journal’s Art Magazine, a representative from the World of Crete reached out to me. WOC is an immersive art fair that brings together artists, galleries, and collectors from all around the world. They showcase a range of contemporary mediums, including painting, sculpture, digital art, and mixed media. They asked if I’d like to participate and sent along an application with a list of the packages they offer. After researching the organization and filling out my application, I was officially accepted! I will be showing three pieces at their art fair in September — my artist bio and website will also be displayed. I haven’t decided which paintings I’ll send yet. I’d like to make some new pieces and select my best ones for the deadline in August.

Long Island Girl: The Superrealism of Carole Feuerman

My new job has a number of cool perks! I feel so lucky working amongst so many talented artists, and these past couple months we all worked so hard to help Feuerman put together her show Long Island Girl, which will be up in the Museum of Sex from January until the end of August. The show is made up of a series of fragment pieces that Feuerman made in the late 70s/early 80s but never showed to the public. I learned a lot while helping work on this exhibition, whether I was sanding, building, restoring or painting. I love that I get to be immersed in the whole process. And it was so exciting being invited to opening night and being able to see all the work put together, displayed in the way it was meant to be seen.

The image on the right shows me with my mentor and friend, Eduardo Delacruz at the show’s opening party. Eddie has taught me everything I know about the airbrush and how to use it. He’s been so patient with me as I’ve learned and made mistakes, turning everything into a chance to improve. I’m grateful to him for making a difficult transition a fun one. His own work is amazing, check out his stuff at MAD Artistry!

Recent Work

Juice Pouch, Oil on Canvas 20x24”

I know… this painting should be done by now. Along with others. As I’ve settled into the new job and dealt with moving into a new apartment, I’ve been struggling to develop a new painting routine. However, now that the dust has settled, paintings will once again start rolling out! I will finally finish those few pieces I’ve put on hold, and I have a few more ideas that I’m anxious to start! The next newsletter will have more to report in this regard.

With Juice Pouch, unfortunately it was damaged in the move, tearing in three different places. I had a slight set back as I restored the holes, but am now back on track and have started in on the skin. I’m experimenting with how I lay down the paint, looking more closely at some of my biggest references: Jenny Saville, Lucien Freud, and Paco Lafarga. This is one of the paintings I’m considering for World of Crete!
